Leaving the Soltane Forest: Healing Through Myth and Writing Our Own

All of life is a story — one that our brains are hardwired to script in a way that keeps us “safe” and small. But in your quest to live life to its fullest, there is a treasure trove of mythology, folklore, rituals, and practices that can help illuminate your path to deeper meaning and clear purpose.

Join Dr. Louisa Foster in an interactive, intimate group experience exploring the Art of Mythopoesis.  These weekends are designed to bridge the lessons of mythology with the tools of psychology for a transformational personal quest guaranteed to open new vistas for a happier, more fulfilling life.

These weekend workshops are designed for anyone interested in self-discovery and open to having fun! You don’t have to be a writer or an artist to enjoy this hands-on journey. Louisa will guide you, using powerful, ancient stories to help make meaning of our ever-chaotic modern world.

Mythopoesis is derived from the Greek word for Myth-Making.  The Art of Mythopoesis, when practiced in concert with psychology, involves the discovery and creation of one's own personal mythology and symbology as a tool for personal growth, insight, and healing.

In Arthurian legend, the Soltane Forest is the idyllic, safe, but limiting space from which Parzival, the original hero in the quest for the Holy Grail, prepared to embark on his quest.  It is a place of comfort and protection that can lull us into a sense of complacency.  Recognizing the growing need to move forward out of the forest and into transformation is the first step of the adventure.

Together we’ll take a fascinating journey that rewards you with precious insight, understanding, and compassion for your fellow travelers — and yourself.

These immersive quests will offer you abundant benefits including:
  • A mapped-out process that takes you beyond the mundane and into a more expressive, magical view of the world of possibilities open to you through a mythopoetic journey.
  • Greater understanding of your own personal story (aka your mythology) and talismans that help you derive greater meaning and purpose.
  • Context for challenges and ordeals that you face today that helps you realize you are not alone and that the answers for how to persist even in the face of adversity exist in familiar forms (myth, folklore)
  • Touchstones you can hold onto, approaches you can take, and actions you can use to guide yourself to a productive, positive way forward — the valuable “treasure” from our time together.

The work we do together on this journey will have lasting impact, but fear not — you don’t need any prior experience necessary with therapy or art making to prosper from taking part in this personal quest workshop.
