The Feldenkrais Method® is an innovative system of neuromuscular reeducation. By increasing somatic awareness, we expand our options for moving and living more fully, efficiently, creatively and comfortably.
Using subtle movement and heightened awareness, students break down habitual behaviors into smaller, more subtle component parts. Learning and change become possible through mindful attention, curiosity, and playful experimentation thus re-establishing connections between sensorimotor cortex and nervous system. (Connections that may have been disturbed through habitual misuse, tension, or trauma). Focusing on developmentally-based patterns of behavior, students can rediscover movement range and ease.
With greater movement efficiency, students enhance their potential to excel, whether in high performance activities such as in sports and the arts or simply living more fully.
The Feldenkrais Method is practiced using two complementary approaches:
Awareness Through Movement (ATM) classes are gentle enough for all ability levels and challenging enough for all who seek greater sensorimotor integration and a heightened sense of well-being.
