Creative Arts Therapy
What is Creative Arts Therapy?
Creative Arts Therapy (also known as Expressive Arts Therapy) is a treatment form in which therapeutic work occurs through the media of art, drama, movement and/or play. In traditional forms of psychotherapy, sessions involve sitting and talking with your treatment provider. In a creative art therapy session, treatment takes a more active form, frequently involving movement, play or working through metaphor or symbolic representation. Depending on the training of your provider, your treatment may involve sand play, enacting a desired outcome in a role play or physically working through movement to understand a conflict.
